Henan Diesel Engine Was Successfully Installed in “The Best Warship of the West Africa”

Recently, the TBD234V12 diesel engine of Henan Diesel Engine Industry CO., LTD(HND) was successfully installed in the new coastal patrol ship, which is going to be exported to Nigeria. The delivery ceremony was held in Qingdong city, Jiangsu province at ten o ‘clock on November 27th, 2014. “This warship means a lot to Nigeria, it is like the ‘Liaoning aircraft carrier’ to China”, said by Xuejun Zhu, the chief engineer of the China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation.
On November 27th, 2014, The China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation delivered the warship to Nigeria navy, the director of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, the wife of Nigeria senate chairman and the chief of Nigeria navy had attended the delivery ceremony.
“This warship to Nigeria is like the ‘Liaoning aircraft carrier’ to our China.” said by Xuejun Zhu, the chief engineer of the China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation.
Nigeria is biggest oil-producing country in Africa, it is the main oil stocking place in Guinea bay area, but the security problem in the place is very severe. This warship is custom-made to suit Nigeria navy’s requirements; it is going to be used in Oilfield guarding, anti-piracy operating, sea patrolling, fishing guarding, maritime supervising, rescuing and pollution controlling. This warship is going to be the biggest and the most modern warship in Nigeria navy.
This warship has been called “The Best Warship of the West Africa”, it is 95.5 meters long and 12.2 meters wide, the displacement is 1800 ton and it can carry 70 people. The maximum speed can be 22.48 knot, (that is 42 n miles per hour). The weapon system is equipped with the 76mm warship cannon and 30mm warship cannon. Other than these equipments, this warship also has an advanced radar and fire control equipment, to attack and air defense. This warship can also land a five ton helicopter.
This warship is the same as those warships of the same kind in developed countries, but the price is only 65-75% of those warships in developed countries, so this kind of warship will be required a lot in Africa, Southeast Asia and South America. Lately, the second warship of this kind is ready to launch. What is more, some countries’ military are planning to place some bulk orders to the China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, this shows that this kind of warship will become the most popular exporting warship.

Cummins DCEC L Series Diesel Engines to Power Iraq City Bus Fleet in Bagdad.

A total of 313 units King Long inner city buses were shipped from Xiamen port in China, bound for Iraq. This important milestone marks the largest bus order to Iraq and also a significant number of engine units for the Dongfeng Cummins joint venture DCEC.
The buses will use Cummins ISL8.9 engines especially adapted for service bus application, with powers between 280-400hp (206-294kw). Compared with the same displacement engine, Cummins ISL series engines are lighter and more compact, with Euro 4 and 5 emission standards, high power per litre ratio and low-speed torque the performance can be compared with higher displacement engines from other manufacturers. Cummins ISL series engines greatly increase the carrying capacity of the vehicles. The operating efficiency, stability, reliable and durable and excellent fuel economy make it to be an ideal power choice of large bus and coach. For higher emission standards, buses equipped with Cummins engine ISB6.7 can meet Euro 6 emissions and have successfully been exported to France, Iceland, Italy, Norway and other developed countries.
To meet the special road conditions and demanding weather conditions in Iraq, King Long has paid special attention to its vehicles’ air-conditioning systems, air filter ability and noise reduction capacity. CUMMINS LAUNCHES GLOBAL LOGISTICS HUB IN SINGAPORE

Cummins Inc. opened its Global Logistics Hub in Singapore yesterday, one of the company’s eight master distribution centers for parts and filters globally. The Singapore Global Logistics Hub boasts a total investment of $5.4 million USD and is part of Cummins efforts to enhance its aftermarket product delivery globally. The Singapore Global Logistics Hub will serve markets including the United States, Europe, China, India as well as customers across the Northeast and Southeast Asia regions.
Teo Ser Luck, Minister of State for Trade and Industry, graced the opening event at the CWT Pandan Logistics Centre. The Singapore Global Logistics Hub is a consolidation of operations from three distribution centers in Singapore.
The Singapore Global Logistics Hub has a meticulously designed layout that aims to enhance operations safety. It boasts a three-tier mezzanine storage system with in-rack sprinklers to strengthen fire protection, a vehicle-restraint system and material-handling equipment with cameras and motion sensors, for added operations safety. Also, the warehouse adopts a best-in-class management system and barcode technology in a radio frequency (RF) environment, to control and optimize material flow. With an increase in the facility’s height and introduction of a smart-slotting strategy, space utilization is boosted by 30 percent. The new features of the facility are in line with
Cummins commitment to provide its employees with safe working environments. With the new facility, Cummins will see a 20 percent boost in productivity, faster order fulfilment time and operation cost savings.

CUMMINS REVEALS NEW BUS RATINGS FOR 2017 AT COACH & BUS LIVE

Visitors to Coach & Bus Live at the NEC today were able to view the latest Cummins ISB engines with new SmartEfficiency ratings for 2017, complying with the upcoming Euro 6 OBD C requirements*. Displayed on stand G10, these engines will be in production in the fourth quarter of 2016.
OBD C is the latest step in the Euro 6 legislation and affects new vehicle type approvals from 31st December 2015 and all vehicles from 31st December 2016. The key changes to the regulations impact the On Board Diagnostics (OBD) requirements as follows;
  • The NOx emissions threshold detected by the system is reduced from 1500mg/kWh to 1200mg/kWh
  • Particulate Matter emissions detection threshold is introduced at 25 mg/kWh
  • The level at which sub-standard quality Adblue is detected is lowered from 0.9g/kWh to 0.46g/kWh
  • OBD diagnostic operation must report how many times the monitor actually successfully runs per the number of drive cycles
Claudio Barcena, Cummins Regional engine Sales Leader, said: “Euro 6 has been the most technically challenging emissions step to date. Our leadership in engine driveline integration means we have achieved it successfully, with more installations than at Euro 5. We don’t stop there though, as our engineers continue to partner with vehicle manufacturers and operators to gain a deeper understanding of their business and how our engine technologies can be tailored to deliver improved fuel efficiency and cost of operation. These findings are being incorporated in our 2017 products.”
For 2017 Cummins will offer new ratings specifically developed for bus operation. Substantially improved low end torque, from 700 rpm, will deliver improved vehicle acceleration across the rev range. The ISB4.5 4 cylinder engine moves up to a new peak torque of 850 Nm from 760 Nm. The ISB6.7 6 cylinder engine moves to a high peak torque of 1200 Nm from 1100 Nm along with a new 300 hp/224 kW top bus rating. This increases the scope of Cummins product offerings for the bus sector, being suitable for wider range of applications, vehicle weights and duty cycles.
It supports the demands of European bus operators by offering added value in a market where competitive fuel economy and total cost of operation are critical success factors. Potential savings have already been seen by even closer matching of engine performance characteristics to vehicle types and modes of operation. Cummins capability to offer greater power density with no impact on displacement is a key factor behind this.
“Euro 6 has changed the landscape for engine installation and operation, and the previous rules don’t apply. Our objective for 2017 has not just been to meet the legislated requirements but to provide improved performance and efficiency with no changes to displacement or hardware. We will continue to learn alongside our customers and drive improvements which sustain the ISB’s position as market leader,” added Barcena.

EATON AND CUMMINS EXPAND SMARTADVANTAGE POWERTRAIN OFFERINGS GIVING FLEETS THE POWER TO CHOOSE

Power management company Eaton in collaboration with Cummins have expanded their lineup of integrated ISX15 SmartAdvantage™ Powertrains to provide customers with additional choices tailored to their unique application and operations.  A new SmartAdvantage direct drive ratio is now available, and new engine ratings for the small-step overdrive ratios are being announced.
The new SmartAdvantage direct drive ratio is available in Cummins ISX15 400 HP and 450 HP ratings with 1550/1750 ft.-lbs. torque-rating, ensuring optimal performance at lower rpm when combined with a 2.26 or 2.28 axle ratio.  This package is the ideal solution for line haul or regional haul applications that operate in flat and hilly road terrains at cruise speeds in the 50 to 62 MPH range.
Launched in 2013, the SmartAdvantage powertrain with small-step technology is now available with new 400 HP and 420 HP ratings that provide customers with additional options beyond the original 450 HP rating.   Small-step technology provides the benefits of a direct drive and an overdrive transmission configuration and is ideal where cruising speeds exceed 62 MPH or where vehicles spend a high percentage of time (75 percent or more) at a set cruise speed.
The new SmartAdvantage Powertrain options continue to  leverage the diesel engine’s torque and efficiency with technology that enables downspeeding.  Downspeeding refers to engine operation at a lower rpm while cruising at a certain speed for fuel savings. Today’s line haul and regional haul fleets are spec’ing down sped powertrains to  maximize fuel efficiency, and only the SmartAdvantage Powertrain offers industry-leading downspeeding in both small-step overdrive and now direct drive transmission ratios, allowing fleets to choose the best ratio for their application, cruise speed and terrain.
The Eaton Fuller Advantage Series® 10 Speed transmissions feature a 26 percent step between 9th and 10th gears to maximize downspeeding in the small-step overdrive model by keeping the engine in its “sweet spot” for maximum fuel economy. Fuller Advantage transmissions address friction loses every 100 rpm of engine downspeeding, bolster fuel efficiency by approximately one percent, and provide customers with increased cost savings.

Features of the Eaton Fuller Advantage automated transmission include the strategic use of lightweight components and precision lubrication, which reduces churning losses and eliminates the need for a cooler. These factors reduce weight, increase reliability and improve fuel efficiency. Optimized shifting is based on grade, vehicle weight, engine torque and throttle position.
Cummins pioneered the 15L engine and power rating optimization for linehaul applications. The 2015 ISX15 incorporates several product enhancements, including class leading low-end torque available at 1,000 RPMs and ADEPT™, a suite of innovative electronic control features that optimize driver performance and asset protection. CUMMINS QSK19 POWERING NEW DEERE 8000 SERIES SELF-PROPELLED FORAGE HARVESTER MODELS

Cummins QSK19 engines will power two of the new models in John Deere’s (NYSE: DE) innovative 8000 Series Self-Propelled Forage Harvesters lineup – the 8700 at 755 hp (563 kW) and the 8800 at 832 hp (620 kW). The machines offer forage producers more productivity, increased uptime and decreased cost of operation, and are designed with the latest forage-harvesting technology.
“We are very excited to complete our lineup with the 8700 and 8800,” said Tim Meister, John Deere® Division Marketing Manager. “The machines are powered by Cummins QSK19, which has proven itself in performance and durability in the 7950 and 7980 for several years.”
With Deere’s new 8000 Series lineup, the 832 hp (620 kW)-rated QSK19 now holds the highest output for a 6-cylinder in-line engine in the agriculture industry.
Due to their longitudinal engine layout, the new foragers feature an improved airflow through the entire machine, resulting in lower cooling requirements and more power for chopping, even when the engine is working hard to reach a high power output. At the same time, the lowered engine position provides an improved overall center of gravity and enhanced visibility. This helps improve stability when working on steep slopes or while travelling on the road at speeds of up to 25 mph (40 kph).
Initially designed for extreme duty cycles in mining applications, the QSK19 holds deep reserves of strength ready to ensure instant response as the harvesting gets tougher. This inherent power capability provides forage harvesters the ability to continually chop high-quality silage for extremely long hours under the most challenging field conditions.
These models provide forage producers with a more efficient cost of operation with improved fuel efficiency – up to 6 percent (gallons per ton) in corn and up to 15 percent (gallons per ton) in grass. When packaged alongside the stronger design and higher-horsepower performance of the QSK19, these machines will provide years of reliable service.
Cummins QSK19 engines have powered John Deere self-propelled forage harvesters since 2009. The Seymour Engine Plant began production of the QSK19 for the new SPFH 8700 and 8800 in September.
